This is your basic cream cheese frosting. This is by far my favorite! It’s super easy to make, goes with anything, and the cream cheese balances out the sweetness of the sugar.
Be sure to start with room temperature butter. If it is very hot in your kitchen like 80F or higher, you should cool your butter a bit before starting.
Using your stand mixer, beat cream cheese until softened and scrape the bowl.
Add softened butter and beat until fluffy.
Sift 3 cups of the sugar into the butter and beat until combined.
Add vanilla and beat to combine.
Sift in more sugar 1 cup at a time, beating in between, until you get the right texture. It should be thick enough to maintain it's shape when piped, but not so thick you can't pipe it.
