I have a question. I used the Vanilla Bean Cake recipe to make a 13×9″ cake. I was using it to make a layer cake, and I didn’t want it too high, so I used the leftover batter to make cupcakes.

This has become my favorite and now go-to vanilla cake recipe, but with the cupcakes, the started to pull away from the cupcake liners. I’ve been baking for a long time, and I had actually just read all your tips for butter-based cakes before baking. I don’t think I’ve ever had this problem before though. What did I do wrong?

this is one of the first blogs i ever used to read regularly. and now there’s a plethora of them. they even made a movie about one. by now, i have learned to make cupcakes without even using a recipe, thanks to you – i know it by heart
